I have been noticing heavy hiring activity that is driving very competitive employment offers. I’m confident you have probably heard of someone making a career change recently. And with over 300,000 jobs being created in January, opportunities are abound.
What I find exciting is the that entrepreneur driven companies are willing to create positions for good candidates. Recently, we sent two Superintendents in for one position and the client company hired both candidates. They know in this market they better hire good candidates when they become available. The last time I saw that occur with frequency was 2007.
I am also seeing companies bringing in teams to open a new markets, areas or divisions. This has created some very exciting opportunities for mid-level and junior level candidates. In some of these cases, the offers came with custom defined bonuses or even the possibility of equity.
If you have some frustrations at work, try to get those worked out with your boss. If it falls on deaf ears, now is a great market to look around for special opportunities. Companies are being assertive in hiring, which is creating some great opportunities.
