VICTORIA, TX – A group of Global Recruiters Victoria employees spent the month of October raising funds in preparation for the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Music was playing while, Laura Grahmann, who works as the office manager for Global Recruiters Victoria, and her daughters warmed up for the walk on October 27, 2018.

The office employees decided to sign up for the challenge this year, to honor their boss’ father, William Lamar Gibbens of Campbellton, who passed away March 19, 2018 and suffered from Alzheimer’s in his later years.

“It’s a horrible disease and something that we wanted to help fund more research for,” Grahmann said. “It was something that the office, as whole, cared about.”

The office raised $1,990 and ranked 5th place in Teams and 4th place in Groups, according to the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s website. As an individual, Troy Anderson, an executive recruiter at Global Recruiters Victoria, raised $560 and came in 7th place.

Aaron Zeller, a recruiter at Global Recruiters Victoria, said the walk was unlike anything he had done before.

“It was neat being around a ton of people who are passionate about ending this terrible disease that affects so many people,” Zeller said. “I definitely want to be a part the walk each year now.”

Grahmann said she enjoyed having her daughters take part as well.

“It’s a great opportunity to teach them how to be involved in causes like the Alzheimer’s Association that can certainly use our help,” Grahmann said.
